Description
Hmm… I could’ve sworn I’d uploaded this piccie, but apparently not. This photo is actually from the 26th of May 2012.
This is the land side of the Macquarie Lighthouse in Sydney. The original lighthouse that was built here in 1818 was designed by Francis Greenway. It was later demolished, due to structural issues, and replaced by the one you see here, which was completed in 1883. This is a close replica of the original, but designed by James Barnet. At one stage, it was the most powerful lighthouse in the world, and used arc lamps for foggy weather with a lighting power of 6 000 000 candelas. Although, these weren’t used passed 1912. I have been up this one, but don’t have any decent pictures, since it was before I got my current camera.

Isn't there a lantern room on display here somewhere?
